3. Findings
Table 4 indicates the results of a survey of satisfication with working conditions among senior and junior staff. Seven asepcts were interviewed, and the three areas that have the lowest satisfaction level are examinated.
3.1 Equipment
It is clear that slightly above a quarter of junior staff were gratificated with the equipment of the head offlice while about three-quarters of senior staff were satisfied with it. The reasons for the high dissafication among junior staff are due to the imcompatibilities of their printers and computers. Therefore, the employees may need more time to print their documents and efficiency of the staff from junior levels may be lowered
3.2 Office furniture
Regarding office furniture, we discovered that over half of the juniors were dissatisfied while three-quarters of seniors were contented. Uncomfotable furniture, for examples, chairs and tables, are the possible reasons that account for the result. Under this circumstance, workers may face muscle fatigue and hence thier performance may be affected.
3.3 Pantry
Both senior and junior employees were disappointed with the pantry, only a half of them were satisfied with it. This probably because of the insufficient number of microwave and the old version of refrigerator. This implies that the members of staff need to spend more time to re-heat thier food and have a higher chance to consume deteriorated food. This may cause them inconvenience and hazard their health.
3. Findlings
3.1 Hong Kong
Profits rose steadily from 1994 to 1997, and reached a peak in 1997 and the profits climbed to HKD 60 millions . However, it followed by a dramatic slump and hit the bottom in 1999 of just HKD 20 millions. The reasons for the changes were due to pre handover boom in Hong Kong and post handover depression. The profits then recovered from 1999 to 2001 graudally. Gwoeth of China market is the main reason accounts for the recovery.
3.2 Singapore
Due to the Singaporean taxation policy in early 1990s, the profits in Singapore grew staedily to the highest point in 1995 of HKD 50 millions. The profits were levelled off and started declined rapidly towards 2001. The considerably fall was because of the keen competition from Malaysia in the middle and late 1990s.
